The Ducks get the upper hand against the Flames

(Calgary) Max Comtois had a goal and an assist and John Gibson made 34 saves as the Anaheim Ducks beat the Calgary Flames 3-1 on Friday night.

Brett Leason and Derek Grant, in an empty net, also scored for the Ducks.

Mikael Backlund scored the only goal for the Flames, which remain winless in their last five home games (0-4-1). Jacob Markstrom made 15 saves for his fifth straight start.

After a scoreless first period, the Flames took a 1-0 lead at 6:43 of the second period on the power play when Elias Lindholm’s shot was deflected by Backlund.

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Ducks responded 64 seconds later with Comtois off a Frank Vatrano shot.

The Ducks take the lead at 11:33 of the second period, thanks to Leason who shot wide of the net for his fifth goal.
