A spectacular accident took place near Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), where a school bus from the metropolis fell into a ravine on Friday January 12. The vehicle landed on the railway track after falling around ten meters, in Levens (Alpes-Maritimes), in the morning. The driver, aged 31, was under the influence of drugs. He had used cocaine and cannabis. After hitting rocks, he lost control of the bus. Only two 14-year-old teenagers and the driver were on board. The two teenagers were transported to Lenval hospital in Nice. One is seriously injured, and the other slightly, just like the driver.
History of driving under the influence of alcohol
The bus driver already had a criminal record for driving under the influence of alcohol. The bus line is operated by a subcontractor, who could be sanctioned if the necessary checks have not been carried out, said Gaël Nofri, president of the Régie Lignes d’Azur. The driver will be taken into custody for unintentional injuries as soon as his health permits.
