the driver of the car that fell into the Aa canal died

It is a tragic accident with circumstances that are still unclear. Tuesday, January 18, a car with three young people on board fell for no apparent reason into the Aa canal in Bourbourg (North). The driver, originally from Dunkirk and aged 19, died last night at the Lille University Hospital, where she had been transferred in serious condition.

The toll of this accident therefore rises to two dead. On Wednesday, one of the two passengers, also aged 19, succumbed to her injuries. The third passenger, a young man of 20, had managed to get out of the car, with only minor injuries.

An unexplained accident

The investigation by the Dunkirk gendarmerie company is continuing, but there is no obvious cause at this point. Alcohol or narcotics are not involved, the car was recovered in good condition and the section of road on which the accident occurred did not present any particular danger.
