The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident on a farmers’ dam in Ariège on Tuesday January 23, which left two dead, was indicted, in particular for “involuntary homicide”, and placed in pre-trial detention, announced Wednesday evening the Foix prosecutor’s office in a press release.

This man, an Armenian national in an irregular situation, was brought to the courthouse on Wednesday afternoon. A judicial investigation has been opened. “At the end of his first appearance interrogation, during which he answered the investigating magistrate’s questions, he was indicted on charges of aggravated involuntary homicide, aggravated injury and driving a motor vehicle without insurance”explains the prosecution.

“At the end of the evening, the judge of freedoms and detention ordered the placement of the person indicted in pre-trial detention as security measures and for the needs of judicial information, upon compliant requests from the public prosecutor”continues the prosecution.

On the other hand, the custody of the two occupants, who were not drivers of the vehicle causing the accident, was lifted, specifies the prosecution, “to the extent that no criminal offense has been brought against them”. They were placed in an administrative detention center with a view to their removal from the national territory.
