The accident claimed the lives of four young people from Dordogne in Bayonne on Saturday April 16 in the early morning, causing a wave of emotion throughout the Périgord Noir. The public prosecutor of Bayonne Jérôme Bourrier indicates this Tuesday, April 26 to France Blue Basque Country that the driver of the car in which they were driving tested positive for alcohol, as revealed by the newspaper Sud Ouest.
The accident occurred on Avenue du Maréchal Soult in Bayonne, very early around five o’clock in the morning. The car hit one of the trees in the central median. The public prosecutor of Bayonne had requested toxicological expertise after the accident. They indicate that the driver, like the three other passengers in the car, had consumed alcohol.
The investigation is still ongoing
These same analyzes specify that none of them had taken drugs. As for the causes of the accident, the speed track is still being studied by Bayonne police investigators. An additional expertise of the vehicle is in progress to check it.
The drama caused great emotion throughout the Périgord Noir. The four friends, well known in the Sarladais rugby clubs, were all between 20 and 21 years old. Originally from Carsac-Aillac for two of them, Sarlat and Saint-André-d’Allas for the other two, they had gone to the Basque Country to party at the ham fair.
