In the magnificent setting of the Bay of Somme is currently taking place the transhumance of horses of the Henson breed, which take their winter quarters … The public came from afar, Sunday, October 24, to see them running between sky and sea.
Under a radiant sun, the riders supervise the foals in the Bay of Somme, to bring them to the equestrian center of Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont (Somme), as tradition dictates. The experience is memorable for the riders. “We are riders for fun, and there, we are in the heart of nature with them”, confides a participant.
A few moments more early on, it was still time for the first approach. It is necessary to tame the young and their mother, who have only known the wild state. The public came in large numbers to enjoy the unique spectacle. From daybreak, before starting the transhumance, the 170 riders were already on their mounts. “It’s really the breeding festival, it’s the moment when all the Henson enthusiasts get together, and it’s also the moment when we go to see the foals of the year, (…) it’s also a look to the future “, explains a rider.
