Victorious by a score of 5 to 4 the day before, the Vikings of the ship returned to the charge with a collective performance of quality to appropriate the honors of this double program.

Inspired in attack by 20-year-old veteran Benjamin Corbeil and in defense by goaltender Olivier Adam, the Nord-Côtiers quickly set the tone for the match and were able to maintain the pace until the end.

His team’s top scorer, Corbeil played another strong game with a pair of goals. The number 12 opened the scoring in the first before taking advantage of a power play to double the lead at the start of the second period.

Victims of a fifth loss in a row, the visitors tried to come back, but faced a masked man in great shape, who collected his fourth shutout of the season thanks to 31 saves.

“The guys fought well and had the right intentions. It hasn’t always been perfect, but when there have been small mistakes, Olivier [Adam] was there to fix them,” commented head coach Jean-François Grégoire.

Another great sequence

After sweeping the Océanic de Rimouski a week earlier, the Drakkar returned to the charge and repeated the same winning scenario with this fourth triumph in its last five outings.

“That’s often what happens with a young team. There are ups and downs. Things are going well now. The guys are playing well collectively. They are committed and that is giving us positive results,” added the boss.

Dominant special units

The special teams also made the difference in this 15and campaign victory. In addition to scoring once with their five-man attack, the Baie-Comois blanked the enemy three times in addition to losing a five-minute deficit during the first period.

The crew members will benefit from a few days off before heading back to sea soon in the direction of Abitibi… They will tackle an imposing series of three games in three days in the west of the province, the next weekend.
