These Périgord volunteers took to the road early this Monday morning from their base in Sarliac-sur-l’Isle (Dordogne), around 5 a.m., to come as reinforcements for the rescuers mobilized for a week in Gironde on the two huge forest fires. Equipped with three ambulances and an emergency car, these civil protection Périgourdins are now available to firefighting services in Gironde. In particular, they should be mobilized for the evacuation of populations. They could also participate in the evacuation of nursing homes.
Rescuers based about twenty kilometers from Landiras
The Perigord rescuers are deployed in the town of Villandraut (Gironde), about twenty kilometers from the Landiras fire. The National Federation of Civil Protection has triggered the departure of these volunteers for an indefinite period.
