Revealed during the first day of the Dodge Speed Week event, Dodge is reviving the super-powerful Durango as an SRT Hellcat for 2023. Historically, the feline from hell had been presented as a model reserved only for the year 2021.
As in the past, the SUV still boasts a cavalry of 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque thanks to its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. This translates to 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) acceleration in just 3.5 seconds and it completes the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. As for the top speed, it reaches 290 km/h.
To contain such power, the HEMI engine has several elements such as: a cast iron cylinder block with water jackets between the cylinders to ensure optimal cooling, high strength forged alloy pistons and alloy cylinder heads. aluminum.
Brembo brakes bring it all to a halt with six-piston calipers up front and four at the rear. The drives measure 15.75 inches and 13.8 inches respectively.
The eight-speed TorqueFlite 8HP95 automatic transmission features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and offers seven available drive modes: Auto, Sport, Track, Snow, Tow, Eco and Valet.
Aesthetically… identical
Aesthetically, the Durango SRT Hellcat does not change. It still includes its many air intakes (especially on the hood) to help cool the mechanical components. Otherwise, SRT Hellcat badges are placed on the fenders.
The interior stands out from other Durango models with red accents and Nappa leather seats with suede inserts that feature an embroidered SRT logo. The Uconnect infotainment system uses a 10.1-inch screen.
Production of the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 and is expected to arrive in dealerships in early 2023. Pricing will be announced later.
