The story between Stéphane Ruffier and AS Saint-Etienne is not over yet. The file of the former international goalkeeper, who challenges his dismissal for “serious misconduct”, will return to the industrial tribunal of Saint-Etienne on June 13, AFP learned on Tuesday, February 8.

The 35-year-old ex-keeper, dismissed in early January 2021, six months before the end of his contract, demands “financial compensation of between four and five million euros” on the part of his former club, which, for its part, judges this request “astronomical”.

Stéphane Ruffier wanted to have a deadline, which the industrial tribunal meeting on Monday in a tie-breaking hearing granted him, the Saint-Etienne football club told AFP on Tuesday. Apart from salary compensation, the one who ended his career as a professional footballer after his dismissal requests compensation corresponding to a “loss of chance for his professional career” and to one “moral prejudice”.
