The dishonest shortcuts of Haroun Bouazzi

On Monday, QS MP Haroun Bouazzi posted a video online urging Quebec not to “be complicit in the apartheid regime in Israel-Palestine.”

The association between Israel and South Africa of yore is a classic of fanatics, anti-Semites, Islamists and ignoramuses who speak too quickly.

Its real goal is to delegitimize Israel, by associating it with a racist state, the better to isolate it.

Reminder

We can very well criticize certain policies of Israel, but the comparison between the Arab population of Israel (20% of the population) and the blacks of the former South Africa is grotesque.

In Israel, Arabs vote in elections, sit in parliament, sit on the Supreme Court, constitute 20% of all doctors and 17% of all university students from 1er cycle…despite the rockets Hamas is raining down.

Yes, there is the painful question of the Palestinian territories and new settlements, which scores of Israelis themselves criticize.

What happened to blacks who once criticized apartheid?

Of course, in these territories under Palestinian administration, democracy is flourishing so much that Mahmoud Abbas, who has been stretching out his 4-year term for 15 years, cancels elections every time he fears losing them, and Hamas uses Gaza as a base of its military operations.

Israel is far from perfect, but do you think it’s easy to be surrounded by regimes that want your destruction and have allies within your own society?

Two peoples love the same land, and they are unable to share it to make two sovereign states coexist.

Nothing to do with the old South Africa, a unitary regime, totally illegitimate, with racism laid down in laws.

Israel is not just about the Netanyahu government any more than the United States is about Trump.

If the Palestinian leadership, which rejected a state that was too small for its liking in 2000 and 2008, recognized Israel’s right to exist in peace, Netanyahu’s hardliners would not be so successful in the elections.

But should we be surprised at the dishonest shortcuts of the deputy of QS?

  • Listen to the column of Joseph Facal, columnist for the Journal de Montréal & the Journal de Québec at the microphone of Benoit Dutrizac on QUB-radio :

Infiltrate

In 2015, the borough of Outremont had canceled a room rental at the Sharia Academy, the MISHKA, which received for the occasion the imams Assawy and Shahin.

The first calls for jihad against the West and defends female genital mutilation and marital rape.

The second advocates that Muslims disobey Western laws.

Bouazzi said he dissociated himself from fundamentalism, but felt that Outremont’s decision was not “democratic”, not “acceptable”, and made us “leave the rule of law”.

More recently, in the spring of 2021, during the Hamas-Israel conflict, when anti-Semites marched through Montreal yelling “Dirty Jews” and “Death to Israel,” all of our parties supported a motion denouncing anti-Semitism… except QS.

I was asking the other day if QS wasn’t downright infiltrated by the Islamists. I believe I have my answer.
