The disappearance of insects, a natural disaster against which we can act

The beautiful days are approaching, accompanied by the arrival of insects. Unfortunately, they are increasingly rare, due to pesticides. In “A degree of consciousness”, Emma Haziza, expert in hydrology, specialist in the adaptation of our societies to climate change, talks about this natural disaster.

There has been a 70 to 80% drop in insects over the past three decades, according to studies. Blame it on agriculture and pesticides. The development of our cities is also a cause of this decline, because of light pollution. Climate change is also a big part of this, with an increase in tiger mosquitoes and wasps.

How can we act? Create favorable habitats in our gardens to allow birds and pollinators to return. And make children aware of the importance of insects.
