the director of the Raid “accomplice”, according to the complaint filed for “willful violence”

The young man explains that he was injured by an LBD shot on the night of June 30 to July 1, before losing his eye. The complaint targets in particular the director of the Raid and the director general of the national police.

A 21-year-old young man files a complaint against X, after being blinded by an LBD shot on July 1 in Marseille, on the sidelines of urban violence linked to the death of Nahel, franceinfo learned on Monday July 24. According to the complaint, which franceinfo was able to consult, Abdelkarim claims to have received a shot from a defense ball launcher (LBD), launched by a police officer, on the night of June 30 to July 1, around 00:30 a.m., while he was walking in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille. Injured in one eye, he had to be hospitalized before finally losing the use of it, details the complaint.

The latter therefore decided to file a complaint with a civil action against X, against the director of the Raid and against the director general of the national police for “willful violence resulting in mutilation or permanent disability, committed in a meeting, by a person holding public authority, with the use of a weapon”. The complaint is also filed for “attempted voluntary homicide”. Also according to the complaint, it is written that he “is indisputable that the policeman who shot Abdelkarim was aiming for his head […] Thus, the policeman who aimed and fired an LBD at Albedlkarim’s face clearly characterized his intention to kill him.“.

The complaint therefore also targets Jean-Baptiste Dulion, director of the Raid: “By ordering the deployment of RAID members and the use of LBDs [il] is complicit in offenses committed by law enforcement agencies under his control“. Moreover, “it is important to underline the fact that the RAID is placed under the direct authority of the director general of the national police, Mr. Frédéric Veaux. Thus, the latter is responsible and complicit in the offenses committed by the police under his control on the night of June 30 to July 1 in Marseille, including officials of the RAID“, states the complaint.

“A family destroyed by the Police”

The complaint also mentions another shot by LBD the next day, this time concerning Mohamed: “It is important to emphasize that on the night of July 1 to 2, 2023, in Marseille, Mohamed died as a result of the shooting of an LBD launcher in the thorax causing him a cardiac arrest.“. According to Abdelkarim’s lawyer, master Arie Alimi, Mohamed and Abdelkarim were cousins.

On Twitter, Arie Alimi, wrote on Monday: “Abdelkarrim, suffering from a major handicap, was probably blinded by the RAID on the night of June 30 to July 1 while he was walking. The next day, his cousin Mohamed is killed by LBD 40. A family destroyed by the Police“, he adds.

After the death of Nahel on June 27, killed by a policeman during a roadside check, urban riots broke out all over France and for several evenings in a row. More specifically, on the night of Friday June 30 to Saturday July 1 in Marseille, 95 people were arrested and 31 police officers were slightly injured. Many stores were also looted. Gendarmerie reinforcements were then sent to support the police.
