Frédéric Veaux, the director general of the police receives unions and associations Thursday and Friday afternoon after several suicides in the ranks of the police since the beginning of the year 2022, according to information from franceinfo Tuesday January 18. Seven police officers have ended their lives since the beginning of January.

The director general of the police will therefore receive the trade unions on Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon the various associations which come to the aid of the police. This Tuesday alone, there were two additional police suicides in Lille and Strasbourg, Linda Kebab, national delegate for the SGP FO Unit, said on Twitter.

According to Linda Kebab, the national police “always ignores our proposals to help our colleagues get out of the funnel of psychic pain”. For her, “the factors of suffering are ignored even and especially when they are professional. Whistleblowers and harassed police officers who are victims of systemic omerta are sanctioned”, she regrets.

“The procedures are long and tedious to recognize the deviations of a system whose warning and prevention tools are too weak”, adds Grégory Joron, Secretary General Unit SGP POLICE, “Neither fatality nor resignation. Humans must be at the heart of the debate”, he insists on his Twitter account.
