Some companies decide to increase the wages of their employees to catch up with inflation. But they too are faced with rising prices and not all of them can afford it.
Workers and salaried workers face an ever-increasing cost of living. So the Ministry of the Economy asked companies to make an effort on wages. In Seine-et-Marne, a cutlery increased its 50 employees by 5%. “Given the inflation in the price of diesel, I admit that it allows you to fill up more, without ending up in the red at the end of the month.“, explains Justine Vendesten, employee at Deejo. In return, the company has increased the price of its knives by 5%.
But not every company can raise wages to offset inflation. A moving company will grant a 2% increase to its 19 employees at the end of the month. The company’s costs have exploded with the increase in fuel prices, and the boss assures that he cannot increase his prices again. “If we really wanted to catch up with inflation, I think we would have to increase more than that“, notes Bruno Cavallo, employee of Déménagements Vermorel.
