Since the attacks of October 7, homes in Palestinian camps have been destroyed. Roads and the electricity network are also damaged.

In Nour Shams (West Bank), the roads are completely destroyed. Businesses and homes are damaged and, in places, the electricity network is hanging by a thread. Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank often find themselves in this state after an Israeli army operation. “They broke the store window and also demolished the houses (…) It’s intentional”says Amer Qazmouz, trader in the Palestinian camp of Nour Shams.

A continuation of the “Nakba”

According to the Israeli army, razing roads is inevitable to prevent explosive devices that some Palestinians might place in their path. Some of the camp residents see another purpose in it. “They are carrying out demolition operations”, assures Suleiman Al-Zuhairi, resident of the Palestinian camp of Nour Shams. For them, the “Nakba“, which refers to the forced exodus and flight of several hundred thousand Palestinians, continues. Since October 7, 60 families have lost their homes in this camp.
