The Prefecture also extends measures already in force, namely that the maximum speed is lowered by 20km/h on 2×2 lanesgoing from 110 to 90 km/h. “Exemptions from open burning of green waste are suspended”just like burning.

Advice for vulnerable people

The prefecture also advises vulnerable people, such as pregnant women, infants, those over 65, for example, to follow some recommendations:

  • avoid travel on major highways and their surroundings, during peak periods
  • to postpone the activities that require the most effort, in particular intense physical and sporting activities (including competitions), both outdoors and indoors
  • in the event of respiratory or cardiac discomfort (shortness of breath, wheezing, palpitations), to take advice from your pharmacist or consult your doctor, in particular to find out if your medical treatment must be adapted and to favor short outings requiring the least effort .

An Air Quality Pass on the Star network

For its part, the Star network, which operates Rennes public transport, indicates on its website that “to cope with the pollution peak, the Star network is setting up the Air Quality Pass, available at €1.50 and valid all day. It allows free movement on all bus and metro lines of the STAR network (from the first to the last departure of the day) and remains available until the end of the pollution episode. It is notably available at vending machines or on buses.
