The differences that have resurfaced within the Nupes since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas are not “not insurmountable”, assures Tuesday, November 7 on France Inter the LFI deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis Clémentine Autain. She recalls that all the formations of the Nupes are “for an immediate ceasefire, for the release of all hostages, for the end of the blockade, for the cessation of hostilities and for the recognition of two States”.
The elected official, however, maintains her criticism of the first press release published by La France insoumise after the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on October 7. Clémentine Autain particularly regrets the disagreement with certain members “on the use of the term terrorist”. The MP, for her part, maintains that she considers Hamas to be “a terrorist organization whose political project is the destruction of the State of Israel.”
France’s words “are not crystal clear”
“What has struck me over the past month [et le début du conflit israélo-palestinien] it is the word of France”, she gets annoyed elsewhere. Clémentine Autain considers that “France would be honored to find a clear and strong speech”. Clémentine Autain points the finger at those who have, “including from the podium of the National Assembly, said that we must have unwavering support for Israel.”
“Israel must stop bombing in all directions”
The member for Seine-Saint-Denis explains that she has been struck for a month at a time by “absolutely terrifying terrorist acts” perpetrated on October 7 by Hamas and by Israeli replicas. For the LFI MP, the reprisals of the Hebrew State are a “terrifying blind revenge”. Clémentine Autain assures that she is in “the camp of peace and for there to be peace, Israel must stop bombing in all directions”. It calls both for “the release of the hostages” and to a “immediate ceasefire”.
Asked about the resurgence of anti-Semitic acts in France, Clémentine Autain “I think that anti-Semitism is unfortunately a fact that permeates all of French society. We must never lose our vigilance in the fight against anti-Semitism”, she says.
