The Israeli army has just left the south of the Gaza Strip, and some residents of Khan Younes have therefore decided to return home. Residents in despair faced with the scale of destruction caused by the fighting between Israel and Hamas.

Stunned, women sit on the rubble of their living room. “When they said the road was open, we came and this is what we found”, deplores one of them. The withdrawal of the army to Khan Younes
Gazans are in despair. “Our memories, our families, are destroyed. I couldn’t take anything from the rubble and we fled without taking anything”, indicates one of them. These thousands of civilians are returning because the Israeli army has just left the south of the enclave. Their tanks are now outside, on the edge of Gaza. The Israeli Defense Minister says he dismantled Hamas in Khan Younes, hence this tactical withdrawal. But he adds that he is preparing another offensive in Rafah.
