Fabien Dominguez is the vice-president of the Isère Basketball Committee.
The competitions also take vacations and the Isère clubs adapt their programs. Many offer camps or basketball courses. It is of course open to basketball players but very often also to outside children.
Are you parents or grandparents and looking for an activity for your children or teenagers? This is an opportunity to discover basketball in a more fun way than the “classic” weekly training sessions.
How is it organized?
Each club has its own organization. Half day or full day. A few days or all week. The content of the sessions also varies from club to club.
For example, we will see 100% basketball courses in Crolles, Echirolles, Pont de Beauvoisin, Saint-Egrève, Domène where the course is also supervised by Vincent Mendy, a former professional player.
In Marcilloles or La Tronche, the course (more accessible) combines basketball and multi-sport games. In Corbelin and Dolomieu, we offer themed days with a special Halloween day. In Gières, after the basketball mornings, there are afternoons outside with Laser Game or bike outings, for example.
Some clubs really innovate.
At the Terres Froides club, the management offers mental preparation basketball sessions and a meeting with a dietician. She gives her advice and tips for preparing lunches and the young people then cook together.
In Voiron, there are several basketball camp formulas. And one of them includes tutoring and English lessons… all supervised by professional players from the first team who play in National 1. They have training as school teachers or who are American.
Only one thing to do if you are interested: contact the clubs around you. They will inform you about the modalities and the cost for registration. The information is also often on their websites or their Facebook page.
