The department of Seine-St-Denis launches its first participatory budget

The president of Seine-St-Denis, Stéphane Troussel, wants to see in it a remedy for abstention and the growing disinterest in representative democracy. He launched this Wednesday the first participatory budget of this community. Until May 15, the inhabitants of the department can submit their project on this site: jeparticipe.seinesaintdenis.fr. A first selection will be made to ensure their legal and financial feasibility. The selected projects will then be submitted to the vote from September 15 to October 22.. Implementation will begin in January 2023.

To be selected, the projects must fall within the scope of the community’s competences, in other words concern one of the department’s eight parks, departmental roads, the forecourt of one of the 130 colleges, nurseries, protection services kindergarten, child welfare or departmental social service. An envelope of three million euros is allocated to this budget. To present the calendar, the methods of participation and voting but also to collect the first ideas of the Séquano-dionysiens, about twenty public meetings are planned until May.
