The department of Haute-Corse will be placed on orange alert for violent winds, Tuesday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Météo-France announced Monday October 30 in its bulletin. The forecaster mentions a “autumn storm requiring particular vigilance due to strong winds impacting the Bastia region”.

Winds of up to 180 km/h are expected on the ridges, 150 km/h on Cap Corse or even 120 km/h in the Balagne region, near Calvi. The episode should be more moderate in the Bastia region, where gusts will still reach 110 km/h in places.

The department of Haute-Corse is also placed on yellow alert for thunderstorms, like Corse-du-Sud (also placed on yellow alert for storms). Six departments on the Atlantic coast are also placed on yellow alert for different reasons (waves-submersion, storms, floods, wind), while storm Ciaran is expected in the north-west of the country from Wednesday evening.
