The department and academic management of Indre-et-Loire announced Monday February 12 to file a complaint for defamation against a collective of parents denouncing a sex education course in a college in Tours, reports France Bleu Touraine.

The department’s complaint will be filed this Tuesday, the department says. It will target the collective “Angry parents”, which denounces a sex education course taught at the beginning of February at the Jules Ferry college in Tours. This collective, close to conspiratorial circles, denounces on Facebook “sex lessons” and assures on its site that it has collected several testimonials from parents. According to this collective, the speakers have “diagrammed the sexual positions that could be most pleasurable during sexual intercourse”.

A defamation complaint filed

According to Judicaël Osmond, elected department in charge of colleges, educational policy and youth, contacted by France Bleu Touraine, this collective of parents is “completely distorting reality”. “The aim is to reflect on the issues linked to entry into sexuality, to provide students with information on contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs). These are sometimes subjects which are not discussed in families, but who can be with the teams involved in Maternal and Child Protection (PMI).”

In addition to the department, the academic management has also announced that it has already filed a complaint for defamation.
