Several hundred people are preparing for a second day of demonstration in front of the National Assembly, this weekend in Quebec, to once again declare their opposition to health measures.
Again, they met in front of the Fontaine de Tourny, where the organizers of the self-declared “Freedom Convoy” will make speeches around 1:30 p.m.
A concert of horns began to be heard on Sunday, around 10 a.m. Like the day before, dozens of heavy goods vehicles were parked on René-Lévesque Boulevard, near Parliament, where the police tolerate the presence of trucks in a specific area, according to a prior agreement between the SPVQ and the organizers of the event.
A heavy police presence monitors the demonstrators. The atmosphere is festive, with loud music playing through loudspeakers.
Several demonstrators demand the end of the wearing of masks for children and the definitive abandonment of the vaccine passport.
As of late Saturday, police said they had made four arrests: two for assault and indecent action and two under peace and good order regulations.
Nearly a hundred tickets were issued, including 46 under municipal regulations, 40 under the Highway Safety Code and 13 under parking rules.
