One of the treatments that remains difficult to access in the countryside, and even in the city, is eye care. According to a recent study, 6 out of 10 French people have to wait more than 4 months to access this care. On the set of news, the journalist Saada Soubane, tells us about the problem in detail.
According to a study that was revealed a few weeks ago, “The median time to get an appointment is 26 days. But this figure hides a great disparity between regions. To see a practitioner in Paris, you have to wait 20 days, in Lozère, it’s 193 days, that is to say more than 6 months!“, details the journalist Saada Soubane.
In an attempt to overcome these disparities, opticians wish to extend their fields of action. An optician can indeed “detect vision problems such as myopia and propose solutions to correct them: he sells glasses or contact lenses for example”. These eye care professionals can also organize appointments with an ophthalmologist directly from their store thanks to the teleconsultation. But these measures are far from satisfying the entire profession, ophthalmologists claiming that they “more and more people are settling: 253 new practitioners in 2019 and 2020 compared to 150 in 2018″.
