The trial of the November 13 attacks will resume Tuesday in Paris. After the victims, it is the accused who will be heard on their journey.
After five weeks of testimony from civil parties, the trial of the November 13 attacks will enter a new phase on Tuesday, November 2. The Special Assize Court will examine the journeys of the 14 defendants present at the trial, the six others being absent and judged by default. During this personality interview, they will have to answer the president’s questions about their childhood, their career and their flaws. Objective for the civil parties: better understand their personalities and understand “how someone born in the suburbs of Brussels or Paris becomes an emotionless criminal“, Explain Me Gérard Chemla, lawyer for victims.
The fourteen men will be interviewed in alphabetical order, starting with Salah Abdeslam, the only survivor of the commandos. Olivier Laplaud, survivor of Bataclan and vice-president of the Life for Paris association, wants to believe in a burst of emotion among the accused: “We felt an embarrassment, in their shell“. The examination of the paths of the accused must last throughout the first week of November.
