The decree dissolving the Rennes ultra-left movement Defco (Collective Defense) is expected on Wednesday April 3 in the Council of Ministers, France Inter learned from the Ministry of the Interior.

Gérald Darmanin had announced his desire to dissolve Collective Defense in April 2023 a few days after that of the Earth Uprisings, but after the snub of the cancellation by the Council of State of the decree concerning this collective, last November, the ministry of the Interior took its time to consolidate its case against Defco.

A solid file, according to Interior

Born during demonstrations against the Labor law in Rennes in 2016, this collective also distinguished itself during clashes linked to pension reform and during a meeting of Jordan Bardella in Bruz in Ille-et-Vilaine with its 200 ” antifas” who had come to fight. These incidents took place on September 25, 2022 with clashes which left several injured, including a police officer.

At the Ministry of the Interior, this dissolution case is considered particularly solid even in the event of an appeal to the Council of State. Gérald Darmanin described this movement “extremely dangerous”, while its members believe that they only provide legal tools to better legally thwart, according to them, police and judicial repression.
