Orange vigilance is lifted, but it has had time to do damage. Nearly 4,000 homes are still without electricity on Saturday, December 2, after the bad weather that hit the Hautes-Alpes the day before. The floods washed away around thirty meters of road leading to the town of Risoul, which is now inaccessible. In Guillestres, four campsites were evacuated and several stores were damaged. Drinking water no longer flows throughout the town, distribution is planned in front of the town hall on Saturday. In total, 250 firefighters have been mobilized since Friday.

The damage is still being observed, but it will be “important” particularly around the communes of Guillestre, Eygliers and Risoul. The decline has now begun and the situation is improving, notes the Hautes-Alpes prefecture. Enedis and Orange teams are working to restore electricity in the Guillestre area and the mobile network in the north of the department. Three columns of reinforcement firefighters were dispatched to the area.

The Hautes-Alpes have returned to yellow alert for avalanches, snow-ice and floods, according to Mété France, as have Isère and Savoie. Ain and Haute-Savoie are only on yellow alert for avalanches and snow-ice.
