After chaotic discussions in the National Assembly, the Senate begins, Saturday, March 4, the study of the first article of the pension reform project, devoted to the progressive end of the special regimes. On site, Thierry Curtet takes stock of the situation for 12/13.

Three days before the new day of action against pension reform, the unions are keeping up the pressure. The senators, for their part, are continuing to examine the project, with the first article which provides for the progressive end of the special regimes. “On the third day of debate, we are only at the beginning of article 1 (…) and on this article alone, the left has tabled more than 350 deletion amendments”reports Thierry Curtet, live from the Senate.

The left monopolizes the floor, the right is silent

Although the tone seems different than during the stormy and chaotic debates in the National Assembly, the progress does not seem faster. “This is starting to worry a number of LR senators who aim to pass this text“, supports the journalist. At the Luxembourg Palace, the left monopolizes the floor, the right is silent. Despite the custom of peaceful debates in the Upper House, the state of the examination tenses on all the benches. There are eight days left to the Senate to study the government’s bill.
