It is an appointment that delights autograph hunters. The Deauville American Film Festival is rolling out the red carpet for actors and directors from across the Atlantic. The opportunity to discover 13 films in competition, all about American society. “The selection is pretty crazy, there are a lot of first films”, enthuses Agathe Rousselle, actress revealed in Titane and member of the jury of the Revelation.
Ironically, the first film presented deals with a group of activists practicing clandestine abortion in the 1960s, even though certain states had just banned it. Another subject dealt with is the transition to adulthood, whose stars are 15-year-old teenagers, all happy to walk the red carpet. Another actor honored, Jesse Eisenberg has the right to a mythical beach cabin in his name, alongside Ron Howard and Thandiwe Newton.
