Wednesday, May 4, elected officials in Guadeloupe request the status of natural disaster after the floods which caused the death of at least two people and caused material damage.
Wednesday, May 4, four days after the floods in Guadeloupe, employees of a DIY store are busy cleaning up. “We were flooded for almost a meter in the store. It was already very complicated to be able to access this store (…). We had a lot of mud everywhere”, says Claudio Rancé, store operations manager for the Moueza group. Nearly 45% of the items were soiled.
Further, an ambulance company can no longer exercise, while its vehicles were under one meter of water. “Out of a fleet of seven vehicles, unfortunately, I lost five vehicles”, explains Mike Mohandir, manager of “Ambulance Acacias”, which also lost medical stock. For Sébastien Nobin, manager of “Babastone Music”, who opened his shop recently, “we simply have to rebuild”. All businesses in the business area have suffered damage and are waiting for experts.
