Bedridden with flu-like symptoms, the leader of the Parti Québécois (PQ), Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, is forced to cancel all of his campaign activities for the day on Friday. All this the day after the leaders’ debate.
Journalists assigned to cover the PQ campaign were made aware of the news early in the day. Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon feels a high fever, which prevents him from leaving his hotel room. He wanted to reassure his supporters on Friday, tweeting: “I tested 2X negative for covid, but out of caution, I will isolate myself for the day. I will keep you informed of the developments and I hope to be able to come back as soon as possible! »
He will carry out further tests on Saturday if he still has symptoms, assured his bodyguard.
Mr. St-Pierre Plamondon was to address the media at 10 a.m., before heading to Montreal for the annual convention of the Federation of Quebec Municipalities (FQM) and the climate march organized downtown. He will be replaced on the ground by some of his candidates: the former federal deputy Pierre Nantel must notably take part in the march, while the candidate in Joliette Véronique Venne will speak at the FQM.
