Denmark reigns over this Tour de France. Trek-Segafredo sprinter Mads Pedersen won the 13th stage of this 109th edition between Le Bourg d’Oisans and Saint-Etienne on Friday July 15. Stronger in the final with an attack 12 kilometers from the finish, the 2019 world champion finally sprinted ahead of the only two riders who managed to follow him, Fred Wright (Bahrain-Victorious) and Hugo Houle (Israel- Premier Tech). This is Mads Pedersen’s first Grand Tour victory.

In the sprint, he was the big favorite for this finish, and he won Mads Pedersen. The Dane is ahead of Fred Wright and Hugo Houle. A third Danish victory after Cort Nielsen and Vingegaard. The breakaway went to the end today after 192 kilometers.

Revealed in 2019, with a second place in the Tour of Flanders and a world title, Mads Pedersen has since become a figure in the peloton, especially when the race is rhythmic and lively. A versatile rider with a good burst of speed, he failed to take a stage victory at the start of the Tour, in his country. The leader of the Trek-Segafredo came close during the second stage, at Nyborg, after starting the sprint in the lead, but was overtaken by Fabio Jakobsen and Wout van Aert.

In Saint-Etienne, Pedersen finally arrived there, in tough. After slipping into the right breakaway, he struck the blow when necessary, before shouting his joy. The Dane owes a lot to his teammate Quinn Simmons, present in the breakaway with him until 47 kilometers from the finish. “He did an amazing jobrejoiced the winner at the microphone of France Télévisions. He worked hard and he paid it off. It is also thanks to him that I win.”

A third stage victory for Denmark, a first for Mads Pedersen. The Trek Segafredo runner rewards his team with which he has extended until 2025. Nice gift from the Danish sprinter.

The yellow jersey, the Dane Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma), also victorious in this Tour de France, was all smiles following the success of his compatriot. “He deserves this victory, it’s great for him”, he reacted at the end of a rather calm day for the favorites. Denmark now has three successes on this Grande Boucle after the one also conquered by Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education-Easy Post) in Megève.
