The cybercrime section of the Paris public prosecutor’s office took up the investigation into the cyberattack which targeted the Brest hospital center (Finistère) on Thursday evening March 9, franceinfo learned from the public prosecutor’s office on Friday March 10.

In Brest, the CHRU (regional university hospital center) operates in “degraded mode” since the attack but “no health data leaks have been identified”said the management of the establishment.

“On Thursday March 9 at 8:33 p.m., the Brest University Hospital was the subject of an intrusion into its information system”hospital management added in a statement, adding that “servers were impacted”. Communications with the outside are disrupted and “until further notice”the hospital is not “not able to offer tele-expertise, teleconsultation or appointment booking”. Telephone calls are still possible.

A crisis unit was activated and a complaint was filed at the Brest police station. No details were given, either by the courts or by the hospital, on the identity of the hackers, or on the type of cyberattack.
