The police custody of the man suspected of being the author of the shots in Villerupt (Meurthe-et-Moselle) is extended by 24 hours, indicates Tuesday May 16 the parquet floor of Nancy in a press release consulted by France Bleu Sud Lorraine.

This 38-year-old man was arrested on Monday at the home of one of his brothers, around thirty hours after the incident. The shots fired with automatic weapons on Saturday evening left five injured. “Twenty holsters were discovered at the scene, suggesting the use of a submachine gun”specifies François Capin-Dulhoste, the prosecutor of Nancy in his press release. “The condition of the victims is improving. The first two still present elements of concern without their vital prognosis being committed at this time”, adds the prosecutor of Nancy. One of these two victims is of Luxembourg nationality, a 17-year-old man who was shot in the head. The second is a 20-year-old Frenchman, injured in the chest.

Originally from Villerupt, the suspect is a repeat offender. “The criminal record of the person concerned contains several entries for different types of offences”, adds the magistrate. He is well known to the courts for acts of theft and aggravated voluntary violence, just like his brothers. Four of the five brothers have antecedents for the same kind of business, specifies France Bleu.
