The Curse of Rocalbes by Philippe Grandcoing

What a crazy idea to want to buy a castle in Périgord! Overlooking the Vézère valley where archaeological finds abound, Rocalbes had everything to please. But Hippolyte Salvignac’s stay in Les Eyzies, the world capital of prehistory, quickly turned into a nightmare this spring.
1910 Murders follow one another, while French and foreign archaeologists wage a ruthless war for control of the sites. Strange characters lead a troubled game, like the Swiss Otto Hauser, at the same time hotelier, prehistorian and businessman. To make matters worse, the castle of Rocalbes seems to harbor heavy family secrets. It’s about assassination, lost treasure and ghosts crying out for revenge, all against a backdrop of alcohol and social decay. Hippolyte will need the support of the Salvignac clan, his impetuous companion Léopoldine and the talents of Inspector Lerouet to unravel the web of these multiple mysteries.
