While the sale of the Editis group officially took place this week to allow the sale of Hachette to the Bolloré group, let’s return to the popular figure of the publisher. A major historical figure in French publishing attracts all eyes.
I was looking for in the recent song an allusion to Editis, the second largest French publishing group, whose sale came to an end this week, after months and months of suspense and waiting. In fact, the Bolloré group sold it to the Czech billionaire Daniel Křetínský, under pressure from European authorities, to be able to acquire the leading French publishing group, Hachette.
And in this 2004 song, Vincent Delerm cited both Press Pocket and 10/18, two brands of pocket-sized books owned by Editis. But it’s true that it’s a bit of a coincidence, it was during a walk among Parisian second-hand booksellers…
