The Cure North American Tour | Ticketmaster will partially reimburse ticket holders

Online ticketing giant Ticketmaster has partially refunded ticket holders for The Cure’s North American tour. Its singer, Robert Smith, had harshly criticized the high fees charged for some tickets.

On Twitter, fans of the formation testified to having received a refund of 5 to 10 dollars of service fees. “This refund is possible thanks to Robert Smith,” says the email received from Ticketmaster.

The leader of the group had denounced on social networks the dynamic pricing of the American company shortly after the opening of the sale of tickets for the tour of Shows of a Lost Worldwhich will stop in Montreal on June 16.

“It’s a greedy scam, and all artists have a choice not to participate,” he urged, adding that he was “as sickened as all of you” by the rising ticket prices.

The next day, Smith announced that an agreement had been reached with Ticketmaster to partially reimburse fans whose ticket prices were “unduly high”.

This victory of The Cure comes as the entertainment industry is plagued by the scourge of resale and dynamic pricing, which is driving up ticket prices astronomically.
