After having presented around forty shows in Europe at the end of 2022, the English kings of melancholy, The Cure, will sing their lullabies for sad big children on June 16 at the Bell Centre.
From May 10 to 1er July 2023, thirty North American dates, including two in Canada, will be on the tour itinerary Songs Of A Lost World. This trip bears the same title as the 14e forthcoming album from the English goth rock band, which its livid-faced frontman Robert Smith has been promising for at least 2019. Its predecessor, 4:13 Dreamdates back to 2008.
The group also presented on stage in 2022 some excerpts from this often postponed disc, including a song entitled And Noting Is Forever, in which Smith observes that “the world has grown old, and nothing is forever”. The world has become old and nothing is eternal: does The Cure no longer exist as a feeling?
In May 2022, during an interview with the magazine NMESmith promised that this new album, “rather implacable”, will contain “very little light”, enough to reassure the blue-eyed disciples of those who visited us for the last on June 14, 2016. Songs Of A Lost World rings ” more like disintegration that The Head On The Door added Smith, 63, contrasting one of his most oppressive works with his most (relatively) perky album.
In order to get tickets for June 16, it’s first necessary to be authenticated by Ticketmaster as a certified fan – it’s really just a simple form to fill out. You will then have until March 13 to register and hope to receive a code allowing you to have access to the sale which will take place on March 15.
“The Cure has approved all ticket prices and, besides a few seats at the Hollywood Bowl [à Los Angeles] raising funds for a good cause, there will be no platinum tickets or dynamic pricing during this tour”, specifies the press release sent Thursday by evenko.
