The fan meet-and-greet was held at the arena named for the former star goaltender. Luongo would then head to his brother Fabio’s restaurant, Bella Italiana, for a private party where he planned to eat gnocchi poutine served in the prized trophy.

Despite a career of over 1,000 games, it was as a special advisor to Panthers general manager Bill Zito that Roberto Luongo finally got to engrave his name on the trophy. Luongo is also responsible for the Panthers’ goaltending excellence department. After a brief stint in Montreal on Wednesday, the Cup will be in the hands of Panthers assistant coach Sylvain Lefebvre this Thursday. Lefebvre will bring the trophy to the Eastern Townships.
