“The cumulus machinus”, Ugo Monticone and Orbie

Globe-trotting writer Ugo Monticone teams up for the first time with illustrator and author Orbie (The end of lice) and takes young readers to a very exotic place: the immense cloud-shaped aerial vessel in which snowmen take refuge outside of the cold season. We follow the incredible expedition of Ovide, a young boy, a great fan of snowstorms who, thanks to a strange remote control, reverses the trajectory of the snowflakes and discovers the sanctuary of ice sculptures, which are equipped up there with a soul and speech. This revealing journey will not be without dangers for the sustainability of this unique place and its inhabitants. This first-person story, peppered with pop culture references that will make young and old smile, recounts in epic style the efforts of its young hero to save this snowy world. Orbie’s drawings blend perfectly with this gripping story and add an extra bit of comic soul.
