(London) British comedian John Cleese, 83, will once again don the costume of neurotic and misanthropic hotelier Basil Fawlty, in a sequel to the cult 1970s series Fawlty Towersthe production company announced on Tuesday.

Fawlty Towerswhich had only two seasons, in 1975 and 1979, was voted in 2019 best sitcom of all time by RadioTimes Magazine.

The series tells the misadventures of a hotel owner played by Monty Python John Cleese.

The sequel, written by John Cleese, will follow Basil Fawlty’s misadventures in the modern world, running a boutique hotel alongside his daughter, whom he has just discovered exists, according to the American production company Castle Rock Entertainment. He will star alongside his own daughter Camilla Cleese.

John Cleese praised producer Matthew George’s understanding of the creative process. “When we first met, he came up with a great first idea, and then Matt, my daughter Camilla, and I had one of the best creative sessions I can remember,” the comedian said.

John Cleese announced last year that he would have a show on the ultra-conservative GB News channel, which he called the “free speech channel”. According to the channel, the show should see the light of day this year.
