Real estate: the crisis is claiming victims
Real estate: the crisis is claiming victims
(FRANCE 2)

After Covid, many real estate agencies closed their doors due to the crisis in the sector. Some agents even changed their profession radically.

It’s an unexpected career change. Fabrice was a real estate agent. Today, he makes wooden chicken coops in Brittany. After years of selling homes, the real estate crisis suddenly disillusioned him. “So I was fed up, I burned out and it was better to change.”he explains. Too much pressure, then sales that are becoming rarer due to increasingly fierce competition between sales agents. “It’s not so easy to be a real estate negotiator”he explains. Fabrice is not an isolated case. The entire real estate sector has been shaken.

Gilles had five agencies around Paris before Covid. He only has two left today. Now, on his street, three other agencies have closed their doors in recent months. “You had a real estate agency next door, now it’s another business. A little further on, another one has closed.”he laments. For him, the crisis was all the more brutal because it came at the end of Covid.
