Vladimir Putin decided to build it in 2014, just after the annexation of Crimea. It took nearly 3 billion euros and two years of hard work to bring out this work, with a rail and a road part. When it was commissioned in 2018, the Russian president made the trip to inaugurate it with great fanfare. With consummate art of staging, he even got behind the wheel of a truck to make the first crossing. The Crimean Bridge, a symbol of Russian power, is now damaged. A new hard blow for Moscow, against a backdrop of accumulating military defeats.
