Twenty-five years after the broadcast of the last episode of “Melrose Place”, on Fox, in the United States, three actresses from the original cast, Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga, are preparing a sequel to the cult series from the 1990s, with CBS Studios. According to Deadline, the new “Melrose Place” will resume years after the original series, created by Darren Star, and will provide news of the iconic characters of the soap opera.
The return of Amanda Woodward
Thus, Heather Locklear, Laura Leighton and Daphne Zuniga, should play the main roles, reprising their characters of Amanda Woodward, Sydney Andrews and Jo Reynolds respectively. From the first episode, we learn that it is the death of one of their close friends (we do not yet know who) which will bring together the former tenants of the residence with swimming pool.
The producers also promise that this reunion will bring old traumas, old romances, old resentments and new secrets into the plot – quite a program.
Derived from “Beverly Hills“, the series which had been produced by Aaron Spelling, had aired for seven seasons from 1992 to 1999 on television. Heather Locklear had participated in all seven seasons of the series. Daphne Zuniga was there for the first four seasons And finally, Laura Leighton appeared in the first five seasons.
Already an adaptation
Fans will also remember the rest of the cast: Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant, Marcia Cross, Grant Show, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Rob Estes, Brooke Langton, Lisa Rinna, Kristin Davis and Alyssa Milano. Some of them had participated in the remake of the series, “Melrose Place: New Generation“, in 2009-2010, with younger actors.
