The Cowboys Fringants will become members of the Order of Arts and Letters of Quebec.
Jean-François Pauzé, Jérôme Dupras, Marie-Annick Lépine, as well as the late Karl Tremblay, will receive this title awarded by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) during a ceremony on June 10, alongside several other personalities from the cultural sector.
This tribute rewards “personalities from the cultural sector for their exceptional contribution to the development and reputation for excellence of the arts and letters of Quebec here and abroad.”
Since the death of singer Karl Tremblay last November, Les Cowboys Fringants has enjoyed an impressive love rating. They released a new album last month which shot to the top of the sales charts.
Among the other personalities who will receive this distinction this year, we also find the singer Claude Dubois, the filmmaker André Forcier and the writer Hélène Dorion.
On the visual arts side, artists Rosie Godbout and Michel Goulet, as well as art historian Alice Ming Wai Jim will be honored.
Several personalities have been named in the order since its creation ten years ago, including the filmmaker Denys Arcand, the artist Françoise Sullivan, the lyricist Luc Plamondon, the actress Janine Sutto and the comedian Yvon Deschamps.
