The 228 employees of Duralex have not yet decided their fate. The Orléans commercial court, after analyzing the three takeover bids for the iconic glassworks on Wednesday, July 17, has deliberated its decision until July 26. This flagship of French industry in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin (Loiret) is facing profound uncertainty regarding its future, after being placed in receivership at the end of April.

On Wednesday afternoon, the CGT and CFDT had called for a rally in front of the courthouse. However, these two unions do not agree on the takeover offers. While the CFDT unabashedly supports the SCOP (Cooperative Production Company) project, led by some of the employees and the current director of the site, the CGT wants to be more measured. It should be noted that the SCOP scenario provides for the total workforce to be maintained.
