A violent stormy episode hit a large part of Corsica on the morning of Thursday August 18th. First, there was a thick cloud that formed in the distance. Then very quickly, a powerful wind and heavy rain fell on the territory. West of Corsica, in the morning around 8:15 a.m., Ajaccio (South Corsica) was one of the first towns affected. On the balconies, everything has flown away. The entire coastline was then affected. 150 km further Northin Calvi (Upper Corsica)at 8:45 am, the deluge fell down.
The storm then continued its course towards the Northeast. L’Ile Rousse (Upper Corsica) was hit around 8:55 a.m. Some minutes more later, in the far north of the island, Cap Corse (Upper Corsica) was hit in turn. At 9:15 a.m., the sea was rough, and the boats were getting dangerously close to each other. In one hour, the storm crossed Corsica from West to East.
