These are unfortunately recurring images since the start of the season. The kickoff of the second period of the 32nd final of the Coupe de France between Paris FC and Lyon was initially postponed following incidents which erupted in the stands on Friday, December 17. After discussions, the officials decided: the match will not resume.

During the break, around 22:00, several smoke bombs were launched around the parking lot of Lyon supporters. Two agricultural bombs also exploded. The police were deployed in the parking lot and in an adjoining gallery. Spectators from this stand then descended on the lawn to move away from the scene of the incidents, preventing the resumption of the match.

The referee and the players then returned to the locker room. Ten minutes later, the public had returned to the stand after the intervention of the police and the stewards and the call for calm from the announcer.

The score was 1-1 at halftime. It was the Parisians who opened the scoring thanks to a cross strike from Laura. The Lyon captain, Moussa Dembélé, answered him just before the break (44th).

These incidents, the latest in a long series in French stadiums since the start of the season, come the day after an interministerial meeting on stadium violence, in which professional football leaders took part on Thursday.

It has led to several reforms and lines of thought: “match permanently interrupted” if a player or the referee is attacked, plastic bottles prohibited, protective nets that can be mobilized.
