A major economic crisis is affecting Afghanistan, ten months after the return of the Taliban to power. 90% residents live below the poverty line.

In Afghanistan, in working-class neighborhoods, misery reigns. Long queues are created to receive the few distributions of food or cash organized by a United States agency. Under the infusion of international aid, the country is bankrupt. “We got help once which allowed us to pay our rent, but that’s it. This did not allow us to eat”laments a woman. With fatigue and heat, sometimes the tension rises.

After a long wait of several hours, the Afghans find something to survive and stave off hunger. In a district, each family has received the equivalent of 35 euros per month since last February. The Taliban also share this misery, because they have not been paid since coming to power in Kabul (Afghanistan). International sanctions are suffocating the country. The prices of vegetables and fruits are exploding. A man claims to earn only 0.50 cents a day. A family lost everything when the Taliban arrived and have not been able to eat meat for three months.
